This project was for my Computer Illustration Class. The goal was to create a unique character and create a color palette, poses, and storyline surrounding it. Then, to conceptualize and plan holiday cards, wrapping paper, and a 3D-printed keychain of our unique character. Below you can view my progression of this project. This is in progress and thus the material below is incomplete as of now.
Began the project by planning and sketching different possible characters. I wanted to do an otter but had to conceptualize further still. About half of these sketches are vectors created on Adobe Illustrator and the other half I created physically by hand.
I decided to further develop the watermelon-colored otter (ottermelon) for my project's character. I created a color palette, chose complimentary fonts, and created patterns and elements that would be used in my poses and designs.
The "Pixar Pitch" is a simple storytelling framework used at Pixar Animation Studios to condense and present a film idea in a concise and impactful way. We were tasked with using this 6-sentence framework to create a story and individual "voice" of our character. Beside the pitch I included the various poses I created in Adobe Illustrator as vectors.
